Terms of Use

Last updated: 4 November 2026

Welcome to Stek! These Terms of Use explain the rules for using Stek and what you can expect from the service.

By creating an account, you agree to these terms.

1. About Stek

Stek is a free social food-discovery app that helps you find restaurants, cafés and other places, save your favorites and discover recommendations from people you trust.

Stek is independently developed and operated by Victor Verboog, an individual developer based in the Netherlands.

Stek is currently offered in the Netherlands.

For questions, support or complaints, contact [Support email address].

2. Your account

You need an account to use Stek.

You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and must not impersonate another person or intentionally provide misleading account information.

You can edit your profile and permanently delete your account through the app’s Settings.

3. Your Steks and friends

Stek lets you Save places you want to remember and Love places you recommend.

You can follow other users, subject to their approval. When you accept someone as a follower, they can see your Loved Steks and related activity through Stek’s social features.

Following is directional: accepting someone as a follower does not automatically allow you to see their recommendations.

Saved places may inform relevant discovery features, but saving a venue does not publish it as a Loved recommendation.

Your name and profile photograph may be discoverable by other registered users.

Our Privacy Policy explains how your information is processed and shared.

4. Respecting other users

Stek is intended to be a welcoming place for sharing recommendations.

You agree not to:

  • Harass, threaten, impersonate or deliberately harm other users.
  • Share unlawful, abusive or discriminatory content.
  • Upload material that violates someone else’s privacy or intellectual property rights.
  • Spam, manipulate or misuse the app’s social features.
  • Attempt unauthorized access to accounts, data or systems.

We may remove content or restrict accounts when reasonably necessary to address violations, unlawful activity or risks to other users.

Such measures will be proportionate and respect applicable legal rights. You may contact us if you disagree with a decision.

To report inappropriate content or behavior, contact [Support email address].

5. Content and intellectual property

You retain ownership of content you personally upload to Stek, such as your profile photograph.

By uploading content, you give Stek permission to store, process and display it as necessary to provide the app’s functionality. This permission does not transfer ownership to Stek.

You must have the necessary rights to any content you upload.

Stek’s branding, design and software are protected by applicable intellectual property laws.

Venue photographs and other third-party material remain subject to their respective owners’ rights.

If you believe content displayed in Stek infringes your rights, please contact us so we can investigate and take appropriate action.

6. Venue information and recommendations

Stek displays venue information from external sources, including venue websites, geographic databases and recommendations from users.

We take reasonable care to provide useful information, but opening hours, addresses, photographs and other venue details may be incomplete or outdated.

Travel times are estimates, not actual route calculations or live traffic predictions.

We recommend verifying important details directly with a venue before visiting.

Stek does not operate the venues featured in the app, provide restaurant reservations or guarantee a particular experience.

External websites and navigation applications are subject to their own terms and privacy policies.

7. Availability and changes

We aim to keep Stek reliable and available, but technical interruptions, maintenance and occasional errors may occur.

We may improve, modify or discontinue features where reasonably necessary. We will provide appropriate notice of significant changes when required.

Stek is currently free. Any future paid features will require clear pricing information and your agreement before charges apply.

Nothing in these terms excludes or restricts consumer rights or liability that cannot legally be excluded under Dutch law.

8. Privacy and account deletion

Our Privacy Policy, available through the app and our website, explains how personal information is processed and what rights you have.

You can request permanent account deletion through Settings.

Associated personal data will be deleted in accordance with applicable law and our Privacy Policy, subject to any lawful retention requirements.

9. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as Stek evolves or legal requirements change.

The latest version will be available through the app and on our website. We will inform users of material changes and obtain agreement where legally required.

10. Applicable law and contact

These terms are governed by Dutch law, without limiting mandatory consumer protection rights.
